2017 Schedule of EventsMarch 2017   25 March For Parks  The March For Parks is 3 times the fun! Marches will be held at Twin Lakes Park, Cedar Creek Park, and in Murrysville. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the Marches will kick-off at 10:30 a.m. Prior to the events, marchers will collect contributions to benefit parks and trails projects in Westmoreland County. Marchers can participate as individuals or teams of 3 or more. Be sure to register your dog for the March—dogs are permitted at all three locations. March For Parks is sponsored by the Westmoreland County Parks & Recreation Citizens Advisory Board.April 2017 15 First Day of Trout Season  Trout season kicks off at Loyalhanna Gorge, Cedar Creek, Mammoth, Northmoreland, and Twin Lakes Parks. Bait is available for sale and visitors can rent boats at the Twin Lakes Boathouse. Bait vending machines are available at Northmoreland, Mammoth and Cedar Creek parks. 23 Mammoth Park Fishing Derby  A free event for fishermen of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.May 20172-12 Westmoreland County Senior Games  An Olympic style competition for senior sports men and women ages 50 and over. Over thirty events including boccie, bowling, golf and shuffleboard are offered at Mammoth Park and various Greensburg locations. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to winners in each age bracket. 21 Northmoreland Park Fishing Derby  A free event for fishermen of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.June 2017  Summer Concert Series Begins  Free concerts featuring local musicians and groups will be held on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the summer at the Brian T. Rusnock Amphitheater at Twin Lakes and the Amphitheater at Cedar Creek Parks. Visit the Concert Series event page for the complete schedule. 4 Mammoth Fest  Admission and parking are free at this giant festival at picturesque Mammoth Park from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The event features an arts and crafts show, food, music and entertainment for the whole family. For only $4, kids may purchase an “All Day Ride Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, pony rides, a petting zoo and kiddie train rides. 18 Twin Lakes Father’s Day Fishing Derby  A free event for fishermen of all ages from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to both adults and youth. A door prize drawing will be held for all registered participants.July 2017                              June 29, 30, July 1, 2 Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival  Twin Lakes Park is host to the annual Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival for the 42nd year. The festival includes over 50 live performances, 220 arts and craft exhibitors, heritage and history demonstrations, and ethnic food booths.  Festival hours are 11a.m. to 8p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11a.m. to 6p.m. on Sunday.  Admission is free.  Visit www.artsandheritage.com or call (724) 834-7474. 22 Five Star Trail Poker Run  Participants choose a four-mile walk or a twelve-mile bike ride on the Five Star Trail. The event begins at Lynch Field at 9:00 a.m. and ends at noon. The event features a huge door prize give-away with over 100 prizes! Admission cost is $15. 29 Mammoth Park Youth Field Day  A fun, free event for children ages 8-16 to learn more about the outdoors! Activities include trap shooting, archery, boating safety and more! This event is held at Mammoth Park, rain or shine, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Youth Field Day is sponsored by Westmoreland County and the PA Game Commission, in conjunction with local volunteers.August 2017   13 August Fun Fest  Cedar Creek Park hosts this free festival from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The event includes a huge classic car show, an arts and crafts marketplace, music, entertainment, a flea market and delicious food. For only $4, children may purchase an “All Day Ride Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, pony rides, a petting zoo and kiddie train rides.September 2017   3 & 4 Labor United Celebration  This two-day extravaganza at Northmoreland Park from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, and 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Monday is free to the public. The event includes a giant flea market, great food, an arts and crafts show, music, and a one-ring circus. For only $3 children may purchase an “All Day Ride Pass” and receive unlimited access to carnival rides, pony rides, a petting zoo and kiddie train rides. 21 Green Luncheon  The Green Luncheon is a recognition event held in honor of all of the many individuals, groups, and business that continue to support the CAB and Westmoreland County Parks and Trails.October 2017       4 You’ve Got A Friend Day  A fun day of activities for students with special needs at Twin Lakes Park from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students a
