The Five Star Trail is a rail with trail that stretches from Lynch Field in Greensburg to Youngwood and is located along the Southwestern Pennsylvania Railroad corridor.  At Hillis Street in Youngwood, the trail branches off eastward to connect with the Westmoreland County Community College and continue to Armbrust. The trail’s flat surface is ideal for walking, jogging, biking, and cross-country skiing. It is handicapped accessible and accommodates everyone regardless of age or physical ability.

Coal & Coke Trail  Ride or walk through history as you travel the Coal & Coke Trail, linking Mt. Pleasant and Scottdale. Set on scenic old railroad corridors, the Coal & Coke Trail provides outdoor recreational opportunities for walkers, joggers, bikers, hikers, and cross-country skiers. The trail also provides non-motorized, handicapped accessible transportation for area residents and tourists. Along the way, enjoy beautiful natural areas and wildlife while following Jacob’s Creek past old coke ovens. You’ll be following in history’s footsteps as you travel along the same paths as General Braddock, H.C. Frick, Andrew Carnegie, A.C. Cochran, and others.

Historic Hanna’s Town Historic Hanna’s Town was established in 1773 as the first county seat west of the Allegheny Mountains. Today, Hanna’s Town is undergoing restoration through the efforts of the Westmoreland County Historical Society.Excavations have produced about one million artifacts, 12 acres of homes, a stockade, and the location of the Route The site is open to regularly scheduled guided tours, and both historical and cultural programs are conducted on site. Ann Rudd Saxman Nature Park Although small in size, Ann Rudd Saxman Nature Park offers limitless opportunities to observe and study our natural world. Conservationist, botanist, landscape designer and master gardener, Ann was an advocate of soil and water conservation, open space, composting and recycling. In 1996, the park was rededicated in her honor and an adjacent 10 wooded acres that were originally part of Ann’s farm were added to the park.
