The 1864 Blacksmith Shop – The most historically significant building remaining in the Cambria Iron & Steel National Historic Landmark

Established in 1852, the Cambria Iron Company (later known as the Cambria Steel Company) is a former company located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania that made many important contributions to the iron and steel industry. Before Cambria, only a very few small-scale blast furnaces and foundries existed in Johnstown. The inventor, William Kelly implemented many of his iron and steel technology advances at this location and the facility attracted some of the innovators of the steel industry and it was also the site

LIFT JOHNSTOWN 6TH ANNUAL PROJECT PARTY FOR 2017

  • Laurel Highland Historical Village group members will be available on site from 12 Noon until 5pm.  We need volunteers for our organization. All non-profit organizations in Cambria County have been invited to participate. The event is free to the general public. During the event, many adults, senior citizens, middle school, high school and college students will sign up for service hours and volunteer opportunities. Volunteering  for all programs will allow those interested to invest some of their free time in projects and programs that make a difference in the quality of life in our region.

If you would like to participate in LHHV, please stop by and see our table. If you like to work in the outdoors, plant flowers, clean-up Honan Avenue Trail, or participate in any one of our events by volunteering, we would be happy to discuss those opportunities with you. We conduct Veterans Food Drives during the warmer months at local businesses.  If you are interested in donating your time, we would love to take the opportunity to talk about our mission. We are committed to supporting the various ethnic heritages of our region. Come join us on April 4th and make a difference in your community
