The Mount Pleasant Glass & Ethnic Festival is an annual street festival that celebrates our area’s glass making history and ethnic diversity. -Glass making demonstrations-Great food-Entertainment in multiple areas-Contests-Crafts, jewelry, clothing, and more-Parade down Main Street Saturday at 2pm-Mount Pleasant lights up the night

Stahlstown Flax Scutching FestivalThe Flax Scutching Festival offers demonstrations of the complete process of making Linen from the Flax plant. The festival also has great homemade food, crafts, antique farm equipment, live music, civil war encampment, covered wagon train encampment and a staged Indian raid. The Indian raid is a realistic battle between Indians & Settlers, representing the hazards of the era. Admission to the grounds is only $4 per person, children under 12 free. Parking is free. The admission fee includes all festival demonstrations, displays, events and concerts.
Tucked away in a secluded section of Southwestern Pennsylvania are the communities of Smicksburg and Dayton. Though small in size, these towns have much to offer. Beautiful, country scenery, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, is just one of the attractions. These two small communities and the surrounding area are home to over 325 Old Order Amish families.
These families still enjoy a life of simple living, shunning modern conveniences. As you drive through the countryside, you will see rolling farmland along with the English and Amish homesteads.You may see an Amish man working his fields with his team of horses or Amish children playing in the yard of a one-room schoolhouse.
Laundry blowing in the breeze and a horse and buggy traveling along the road are also common sights.Along your journey through the peaceful countryside, you’ll discover many quaint shops. Most are English owned but offer for sale the hand-crafted wares of the Amish as well as an extensive array of other fine products.

Derry Railroad Days has a purpose to recognize and preserve the railroad hertiage of Eastern Westmoreland County, especially Derry Station. It is important to honor the railroad men and women for their significant contributions to the culture, enrichment, and history of the Derry Area.Originally known as Derry Station, Derry was first created in 1852 specifically to serve the Pennsylvania Railroad. Derry’s location was ideal for a major railroad station due its access to water, and because it sits on top of a slight summit along the railroad right-of-way. Back in the late 1800s, Derry had four hotels, mostly to suit railroad workers, and a roundhouse where locomotives would recieve daily maintenance, and a massive railroad yard.
