Raccoon Creek State Park

There will be a closure along Raccoon Park Road starting Monday, January 23, 2017 and tentatively ending in August of 2017. The road will be closed from the Lakeside Restroom to the Southern Boat Launch near the boat rental. The Lakeside Restroom and Southern Boat Launch will both be accessible during this time. The boat trailer parking lot between those areas will be closed. Visitors with boat trailers are asked to park in the parking lot across from the boat rental parking lot at the entrance to the beach area. Traffic from US 30 to the beach, campground, park office or cabin areas should plan an alternate route. Wildflower Reserve

The Wildflower Reserve contains one of the most diverse stands of wildflowers in western Pennsylvania–over 700 species of plants.  Top 10 Activities at Raccoon Creek

There are dozens of fun activities to do at Raccoon Creek State Park, but here’s a list to get you started. Raccoon Creek State Park is one of Pennsylvania’s largest and most visited state parks. It began as a Recreational Demonstration Area operated by the National Park Service in the 1930s during the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) era. The park encompasses 7,572 acres and features the beautiful 100-acre Raccoon Lake. Facilities are a mix of modern and rustic with group camps from the CCC era.

Moraine State Park

The gently rolling hills, lush forests and sparkling waters disguise a land that has endured the effects of continental glaciers and massive mineral extraction. Each year over one million boaters, hikers, bikers and swimmers visit the 16,725-acre park, yet never realize that many people helped restore the park from prior coal mining and oil and gas drilling practices. Today, the park is an outstanding example of environmental engineering achievement.
