Eureka Coal Heritage Foundation

Eureka Coal Heritage FoundationThe mission of the Eureka Coal Heritage Foundation (ECHF) is to create an economic climate in the greater Windber community that commemorates the role coal has played in our industrial heritage.  We accomplish this by preserving and restorating local historical facilities, commemorating the lifestyle and sacrifices of coal miners and their families, and educating the public of the role coal has played in both local and national economies.

14th annual National Road Chainsaw Carving Festival, managed by the Confluence Lions Club

The 2017 14th annual National Road Chainsaw Carving Festival, managed by the Confluence Lions Club, will host chainsaw carvers from all over the US and other countries. They will be carving, displaying, and selling their carved items to the public.  Last year there were 40 carvers that participated.  The festival will be held:
June 15-17, 2017

Thurs, Fri. & Sat.   8am – 8pm Daily

Addison’s Community Park

at Fike Ln. (off Main St.), Addison, PA

(30 miles south of Somerset, 25 miles East of  Uniontown PA, on US Rt. 40.)

The festival is held in Addison, PA located on the National Road within the National Road Heritage Corridor in southern Somerset County.    There are many nearby attractions that you may want to visit while you are here including the original historic Petersburg Toll House, Frederick Augustine House & Visitor Center, the Petersburg-Addison Museum, the Humberson one-room schoolhouse and the Youghiogheny Lake.

Each carver is asked to donate one or more (maximum of 4) carvings to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.  The auction is held on Saturday June 17th at 3:00 p.m.  Don’t miss the opportunity to own this “extreme” art.  Net proceeds from the festival benefits the Somerset County Blind Association , an organization whose mission is …to provide social, vocational, rehabilitative and educational services for people who are blind or whose vision is impaired…).  Over the past 13 Festivals the Confluence Lions Club has donated $124,300 to the Somerset County Blind Association.
