Best known for the 1889 flood which killed over 2000 people in 15 minutes, Johnstown Pennsylvania is the best kept secret of western Pennsylvania. Friendly, safe and clean, it is a wonderful place to raise a family. It’s a place where instead of people giving you directions if you are lost, they will put aside what they are doing and lead you there!
Johnstown started out as a thriving steel town and ideal mountain retreat for the wealthy gentry during the 1800’s. It produced more steel in it’s heydey than was produced in the “Steel City” of Pittsburgh.
With many historical sites, Laurel Highlands makes for a great American heritage trip featuring The National Road, Flight 93 National Memorial, and more.
